Government Charges On Electricity Bills:
NEPRA Electricity Price Update, May 2024
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase of 2.83 rupees per unit in the fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for the month of March 2024, according to a notification issued by NEPRA this Wednesday. These charges will be applied to the monthly electric bills of May 2024.
This additional levy will be imposed on all consumer categories of the ‘former WAPDA’ distribution companies, which now operate as private circles, except for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS), lifeline consumers, and Karachi Electric (KE) consumers.
NEPRA has directed all circles, including SEPCO, HESCO, GEPCO, and other distribution circles across Pakistan, to separate and mention these fuel cost adjustments (FCA) charges on the bills so that consumers can understand them, based on their consumption in March 2024.
The reason behind the increase in these tariff charges is the rise in international petrol prices and economic challenges, which has compelled NEPRA to raise these charges every quarter.
